Venezuela Temporary Protected Status Protections Targeted for Termination

DHS took steps to end or alter Temporary Protected Status protections for Venezuelan beneficiaries, including action affecting a prior extension of the 2023 Venezuela TPS designation. TPS had allowed eligible Venezuelans already in the United States to receive temporary protection from removal and employment authorization because of conditions in Venezuela. The administration's actions created uncertainty for hundreds of thousands of beneficiaries and became the subject of significant federal litigation over the government's authority and procedures for terminating the designation.
