Trump Administration Moves to End Temporary Protected Status for Nepal

DHS moved to terminate Nepal's Temporary Protected Status designation. Nepal received TPS following the devastating 2015 earthquake, allowing eligible Nepali nationals already in the United States to remain temporarily and receive work authorization. Ending the designation affects the immigration status and employment authorization of beneficiaries who do not have another lawful basis to remain. The policy has also been connected to litigation over the administration's TPS termination decisions.
