Trump Administration Moves to End TPS Protections for Nicaragua

DHS moved to terminate Temporary Protected Status for Nicaragua. Eligible Nicaraguan beneficiaries had been protected from removal and permitted to obtain employment authorization while the designation remained active. Nicaragua's TPS designation dates back to the aftermath of Hurricane Mitch and has covered individuals who have built lives, families, and employment histories in the United States over many years. The termination changes those protections, subject to implementation rules and ongoing litigation.
